Irving, Margaret - Circa 1930 - Signed Glossy Studio still - Marx Bros.
The Good – Circa 1930 –Blue ink signature and long inscription on a 9 ¾ x 12 ¾ (irregularly trimmed) Glossy Studio still. Although not a household name as an actress, 1930 is the year she appeared in “Animal Crackers” with the Marx Brothers.
The Bad – The photo has been trimmed down from its original size. Right side top is ¼ shy of the right-side bottom. Two or three handling bends throughout the photo. Usual corner bends on a oversized photo of this vintage. Somewhat noticeable emulsion surface scuff just above her right shoulder in the dark background. Foxing on verso.
*** From the autograph collection of Jesse Kelly, who worked as an usher at Baltimore, Maryland's majestic Stanley movie palace in the late 1920 to early 1930’s. Jesse as Captain Usher, would coordinate the appearances of actresses promoting their latest films.
Inscription on verso, in black fountain pen
