Black fountain pen Ava Gardner signature on a 4 ¼ x 5 ½ sheet, taken from a vintage autograph album. Dated in the upper right corner, by the original collector, as being received in 1943.
Signed on verso by a character actor who specialized in underworld types, Marc Lawrence (1910 – 2005). Marc has also signed in black fountain pen and he has added the date of 1943 beneath his signature.
Extremely early Ava Gardner signature, although appearing in uncredited roles since 1941, she didn’t receive billing until the 1943 East Side Kids / Bella Lugosi film, “Ghosts on the Loose”. Ava played “Betty” in her first credited screen role.
Comes with a modern quality 8x10 print of a young Ava circa 1946. Very fine and very uncommon this early!
