PROVENANCE: From the personal collection of Mary Pickford, as passed down to her husband, actor, BUDDY ROGERS, and then to his widow. This material was kept carefully stored all these decades as part of her collection.
Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks, Sr. - A Pair of Original 1925 & 1926 Signed Los Angeles Land Grant Deeds. Plus, extra items.
One land grant is signed by Mary in black fountain ink pen, "Mary Pickford Fairbanks," and co-signed by her mother, CHARLOTTE PICKFORD SMITH, dated January 27, 1926.
The second is signed by Douglas in black fountain ink pen, "Douglas Fairbanks," dated September 2, 1925. Each measure 8 1/2" x 14" and bear various county recorder office ink stamps, handwritten title company notations, etc.
Pickford and Fairbanks owned large tracts of land throughout the west Los Angeles area at this time.
Accompanied by two more land grant deeds, one signed by Mary's mother, Charlotte, in purple ink fountain pen, dated August 5, 1925, the other signed by Kenneth Davenport, dated August 7, 1925.
Also included are one John P. Mills Organization typed letter file copy to Ms. Pickford that details tax amounts for several plots of land, dated March 6, 1925, one insurance guarantee for a tract of Los Angeles land, dated September 16, 1925, three pages with stiff paper covers, and signed by a representative of the insurance company. Also includes a stiff paper manilla folder with typed label affixed to the recto.
