Content is to his assistant Lydia Wilen at Polaris productions, Kubrick is expressing his regrets that Ms. Wilen was not able to carry on her work for him at MGM Boreham Wood London studios. Signed “Stan” in black ink.
The time period of this letter is when Kubrick was getting ready to begin filming “2001 A Space Odyssey”. Principal photography began on the film, on 29 December 1965, on Stage H at Shepperton Studios, Shepperton, England. Very fine.
This letter comes from the files of Lydia Wilen assistant to Stanley Kubrick from about 1963 to 1965. Lydia maintained her friendship with Kubrick and continued their correspondence well into the 1970’s.
